This is one of our favorite times of the year here at InfoScout (and not just because it’s the one month when it’s socially acceptable to buy candy corn). Thanks to our Shoparoo school fundraising mobile app that enables parents, teachers, and any community member to upload pictures of receipts to earn cash donations for their school, InfoScout is writing checks totaling $744,899 to schools across the country. This brings the grand total of donations through Shoparoo to nearly $3.5 million since the app’s inception in 2012.
The top-earning school this year is Mooseheart Child City and School, just outside of Chicago in Mooseheart, IL, which helps children in need, from infancy to high school. Mooseheart will receive a check for $4,902 for their community’s consistent participation in the Shoparoo app.
InfoScout has also chosen four end-of-year Grand Sweepstakes winners:
- Grand Prize ($15,000): Lafayette Mills School PTA, Manalapan Township, NJ
- 1st Place Prize ($5,000): Ferndale Early Childhood Center PTO, Ferndale, MI
- 2nd Place Prize ($2,500): Holy Trinity Lutheran School, New Hope, MN
- 3rd Place Prize ($1,000): Skyland Elementary School, Tuscaloosa, AL
The donations we are making this month, much needed by the recipient schools all over the country, are a creative (and much more rewarding) way to pay the people who participate in market research. Our Shoparoo app enables us to capture receipt data across a broad range of channels from a massive, representative sample of shoppers. The easy-to-use Shoparoo app also reaches demographics that all legacy panels struggle to capture, from grandparents and Millennial moms to high-income families and online shoppers.
Every time a Shoparoo user uploads a photo of an in-store or online receipt, regardless of where they shop or what they buy, they earn Roo points (cash rewards) or entries into sweepstakes of up to $15,000 for the school of their choice. Users can upload receipts from mass retailers, club stores, grocery stores, convenience stores, e-commerce sites such as Amazon.com, restaurants, and more. Inspired by the Box Tops for Education program, Shoparoo is a fun and simple fundraising opportunity for schools. Many schools encourage competition between grades to maximize participation.
“As InfoScout has grown, Shoparoo adoption has grown, giving us the opportunity to funnel more and more of the dollars that brands and retailers spend on market research back into education,” said InfoScout CEO (and former teacher) Jared Schrieber. “We’re proud to provide schools with much-needed funds and invest in the next generation of leaders and innovators.”
